That is what the inventor of the concertina stair had in mind when founding the today COLUMBUS Treppen GmbH in 1953.

Handmade series production started in 1955 due to the extremely high rush for the concertina stair. It´s success remains unbroken ever since.

The following years made our firm grow very much and  enlarged the range of products to flat roof exits, spacesaving stairs , side piece stairs and spiral stairs.
Since 1986 we belong to the ROTO Group whose founder was the inventor of the loft ladder.

It was near at hand to ponder the distribution of stairs in the combine. The result enabled us to integrate the whole variety of ROTO loft ladders into our range of products from 2003 on.

We are a medium sized enterprise now and see it as a challenge to set new accents in design and function of our products. We take care that the ecological aspect is in focus when designing new products.
